Coxen got the start for Del Oro, it's been about a month since I last saw him go into relief, needless to say, it was a short outing last time. From the first batter of the game Coxen was dialed in, even the warm up pitches were significantly better than last time. Everything was primarily around the zone, his fastball was sitting between 85-88 mph T89, Coxen had command working both the inner and outer halves of the plate. When he was ahead, Coxen would throw a curveball, which had a ton of hitters off balance, not many were able to touch it. His off speed was sitting between 72-74 mph with good shape, playing extremely well off of his funky arm slot. Lefties had a very tough at bat because Coxen was spotting up inside, and then following it up with a breaker starting behind you. The main difference between the two outings was his ability to repeat his mechanics and stay in the zone, he doesn’t need to throw it a million miles an hour. Things are heading in the right direction for the lengthy southpaw, his longest outing of the year.
