Brynner Waiolama, North Torrance (CA), 2023 Positional Profile: RHP, 6-4 205slbs. Large physical frame. Strong lower half. Present athleticism.
Delivery: Athletic delivery. Side steps into a chest high knee tuck. Drop/drive type. Decent sit into lower half. Average length stride. Hard downhill. Level shoulders above hips. Good lowerhalf/upperhalf separation into footstrike. Slight head movement. Works in good direction through home. Arm Action: RH. Medium circle in the back. Some scap engagement. Continuous action. Quick arm that accelerates late. Works to a H ¾ slot. Consistent arm speed. FB: Showed some good ride through. Flashed high end IVB (24.4 inch max). Consistent low-away tendency. Average spin. SL: Consistent low location. Above avg. spin (2402 rpm avg.). Drops slot slightly. Sweeper shape. Minimal IVB and averaged 14 inch IHM. CH: Minimal usage. 8-10 velo differential. Fading shape (16.8 inch avg IHM). Not much drop.
3/09/22
Easy, low effort delivery from a high 3/4 slot. Repeats mechanics and maintains slot on all pitches allowing the secondaries to play way up. Fastball touched 89 and lived 86-88 for his five innings. FB shows late life in the zone with some movement. CH is average at worst right now. Plays well off FB as the arm slot is consistent with FB. CH tunnels very well off the fastball. SL is an above average pitch for a high schooler. Will throw it in any count and lands it for strikes and whiffs consistently. When hit, the contact was weak with the exception one. Misses down with all pitches; counted one miss up on the day. Got stronger and more efficient as the game wore on.
