Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 6-1, 205 lbs. Sturdy build with strength present throughout especially the lower half.

Hit: Rhythmic swing. Rocks onto his backside with some bat waggle. Good internal rotation. Bat speed is above average. Strong fast hands. Flat stroke through the zone. Pullside approach was shown during BP. Had HR to left and an oppo LD single during game action.

Power: 102mph max exit velo. 370ft max distance. Pullside HR pop and flashes of oppo. Hit 2 HRs in BP (1 to left and 1 to right) and one in-game. Above-average bat speed at 70mph average and rotational acceleration of 15gs shows good power ceiling.

Mechanics: Slower tempo delivery. Higher knee lift. Gets to a good balance point over the rubber. Smaller engagement with back hip as he dips slightly into backleg and rides forward. Average stride length. Lower extension #’s. Works with linear direction and energy towards home. Slighty bent landing leg and finishes in good fielding position. Full loose arm action in the back that comes out of a ¾ slot. Average arm speed that reaches peak acceleration later in the action.

FB: Lower extension. Flashes of some good rise with 20.8 inch vertical break. Spin is average for velo. Located more east-west.

SL: More sweeping break due to minimal vertical break. Had some trouble locating but when thrown in the zone is was hard to square up.

CH: Fading CH with some present ASR. Showed decent feel for it. Consistent arm speed and slot.

Fall tournament - Looked the part of a big arm big bat 3rd baseman in this limited look, body looked to be 6-foot-0-ish and 170-pounds or so. Arm strength showed up on a couple of plays and though won't have more than average/adequate range, his footwork within his area was good. Played the ball well on each opportunity. Offensively showed a couple of things that are notable, one good and one to be worked on. Strong hands, ball left the bat well and he's got some power already that will continue to play as he ages, particularly to the pull-side. He's pretty short to the ball but also showed a tendency to dive to the ball and that will eventually have to be worked on. We have seen him on the mound previously but not in this viewing.
