11/9/19: Long, lean and wirey strong, Rudd fits the reliever profile with FB/CB combination; showed his strengths as he worked through three perfect innings with weak contact and 2Ks. Working from the stretch, stays tall with average front knee lift as the hands stay at the waist away from the body. Very compact arm with high back elbow working uninhibited to H-3/4 release; short stride getting extension from backside drive over the stable landing leg. FB 89-91 showing angle to both sides of the plate; able to attack inner half for weak contact and to set up breaking balls. CB 76-77 12/5 shape showing late bend and ability to snap off the plate glove-side; flashed as an above-average swing and miss pitch going to it as needed. CHG 82 arm-side bottom; used as a change of pace before going back to attacking with FB/CB combo. Feel for the breaking ball was evident and ability to control the zone with the FB; velocity on FB should tick up a bit into spring.
