Uncommitted Senior Games:

7.99 60yd, 73 INF MPH, 84 EV

Medium, stocky wide frame (7.99 60yd) proportional build. High hands set up with high back elbow; uses a knee tuck to get into his load and letting the longer bat path get in time with the forward momentum. Barrel creates lift on contact working best to the pullside with line drives that way (84 EV); when barrel gets out front has the ability to square up pitches with more strength. Wide footwork working around the ball to get through it; stays in time with footwork and arm swing timed up keeping throws firm as he continues to move through the baseball (73 INF)

2/19/19 at Menlo - another player who caught my attention during pregame and carried that over into a strong day at the plate. He went 1-3 with a single and run scored while barreling the ball multiple times. At the plate, he stands open and crouched with a flat bat and wide elbow rocking into his back hip and balancing with his front leg lift. The bat is compact and direct driving through on a level plane. His single was smoked through the middle of the diamond and he missed a 2nd hit on the day when he barreled a ball right at the left fielder. He’s got a medium frame with some strength in the upper half and lean legs. Rodriguez showed good lateral movement that he showed off during pregame and in game and matched that with a fringe-average arm from a lower slot. He didn’t really need to use the arm and there could be more available as he flicked balls across the diamond with ease. The Fightin’ Irish will use him in the core of their lineup and I’m interested in seeing him again later this season.
