3/19/18 - Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame that is proportionally put together will lower body strength, squared shoulders and is strong through the arms. Kitchen is uncommitted not because he doesn't have offers - he does, but rather he's taking his time in the recruiting process. Kitchen has a very mature approach to hitting from a slightly crouched, athletic setup with hands at his ears that he rocks as a timing mechanism. Starts slightly open before a small leg lift trigger aligns his body towards the pitch. Stays balanced throughout swing and keeps his weight back before driving his hips and arms into the ball. Shows good barrel awareness and control. Keeps the barrel in the hitting zone. Kitchen was clocked 4.20, 4.26, 4.24 home-to-first. Kitchen uses that speed in the outfield to cover a lot of ground. Shows a good first step and jumps on the ball well with good anticipation. Kitchen has present speed, arm strength, and ability to stay in centerfield, however a move to left field could be in his future where his arm strength will play. Kitchen also catches although he was not in that position on this day.
