Cape Cod: Due to injury, Rothermel didn’t make his 2023 season debut at Kansas State until April 2 and was limited to just eight appearances overall, which made his time on the Cape important from the standpoint of simply getting more innings under his belt. In 20 innings with Harwich, there was some good and bad, as he had a solid strikeout rate with 23 punchouts in 20 innings, but he also had a 6.30 ERA and walked 16. Rothermel has a fastball that reaches the low 90s, but he also leans heavily on a low-80s slider. He doesn’t use his changeup in the high 70s and low 80s as much, but it was a swing-and-miss pitch for him last spring. He’ll also flip in a high-70s curveball.
