7/13/18 @ USA PDP - Recently committed to San Jose State. Outstanding body type and frame. Two-way high school player and down the road perhaps at SJSU as well, has also started to catch again. On mound loose easy arm action, strong arm, deep on backside, some hook/curl of wrist on backside, upside down elbow, good extension at finish, more of a thrower than pitcher, seemed in a hurry, breaking ball was best pitch with 72 mph 11/5 curveball. Four batter outing (1B, 6-4, F8, backward K). Offensively has strong pull side and hook approach, long to it and through it, late arm bar creates some of that swing, struggled for timing but there is bat speed and power. Looked to be getting away from an approach in effort to impress. Defensively looked good as catcher in workout, low pop times though was cheating up early, 1.82-1.89 so the tools are there. As infielder has soft hands and good feet, along with plenty of arm for 3rd base.
6/1/18-6/3/18 @ BAWS 2018 - Big frame, will develop into a strong physical body type, looks the part now and should going forward. One of more physically talented players in this class in Northern California. Slightly open stance with high back elbow and hands; gets the foot down triggering explosion from back hip and hands. Showed very quick bat made for extra bases with raw power to dead center; power to all fields with electric bat. Rangy moving laterally at 3B with easy actions in glove hand; above average arm that gets turned up when needed. Smooth runner with ability to use long frame well; 4.51 H-1st. On the mound keeps hands wide with slight tuck in his high front knee on the way up; Showed easy, loose arm with mid-3/4 release and plus tempo on the mound. FB 86-90 with angle to the arm side and pitches exploding through the zone. CHG 81-84 was straight and hard, but showed enough difference between the FB to keep hitters off pace. CB 74-76 with late depth at plate and flashes of 2 level action; feel for pitch with ability to throw for strikes and snap through the zone for swing and miss.
