This was my second extended look at Puebla, the first coming during the spring of 2025 against Dos Pueblos. From that look to this one, everything across the board for Puebla has taken a step forward. His FB velocity now touches 89 MPH consistently in an outing, previously it was around 86-87, and once bumped 88, and the shape has more of a ride-cut FB shape that gets on hitters. As well, he showed an 82-83 MPH cutter in warmups, but did not see it during the live game action. His two main offspeed offerings came in a CHG with splitter-like action diving vertically off his FB shape, while having slight arm side fade in the 78-80 MPH range and a tight, short breaking SLD at 76-78. Puebla is a clean mover with lower effort and repeats his delivery consistently, which gives him polished control filling the strike zone at a high rate, and in nearly 20 innings of work already in the spring of 2026, has walked just two hitters. He can collect whiffs on his FB, especially up in the zone or above the zone, but the Spartans jumped out to a huge early lead and appeared to back down on attacking whiff and pitched aggressively to contact so he could work deeper into the game with the Spartans comfortably in front. The athleticism in the operation, clean arm path, high-quality stuff, and feel to pound the strike zone give Puebla a long-term starting profile on the mound and should be a well-in-demand option for Junior College programs as an uncommitted senior who is heading in the right direction.
