2/4/2020 @ Cabrillo: Gomez caught my attention during Batting Practice as the quiet and level swing showed advanced barrel feel working line drives through the middle of the field from a short compact swing with quick hands. The 5-9, 185 frame is well proportioned showing some current strength and quick feet to play multiple OF positions. During the game Gomez was the leadoff guy showcasing a balanced and strong approach at the plate and the ability to stay on all types of pitches. Gomez went 1-for-4 with a walk and slash single through the 6-hole. On the bases he’s an aggressive runner understanding angles and showing the ability to go 1st to 3rd with ease. During defense the arm strength can fit the corner with him making accurate throws from RF before moving to CF later in the game and showing some tracking ability into the gaps. Gomez has been the table setter so far for Delta and his bat-to-ball skills should have coaches following him this Spring.
