Wilson makes his way up to NorCal from the valley, out of Clovis North High School, Wilson stands at 6 '1 178lbs with more room to grow in his athletic frame. Wilson is the number two ranked right handed pitcher in the state and a top 10 in the whole class of 2027. Just talking to him on the side, he’s a great kid, talks with a lot of confidence, but the best part is he actually has a personality. I’ve only had the chance to see Wilson throw once this season and that was about two months ago. All eyes were locked in on Wilson as he was set up during his warm up pitches, five batters later Wilson ended up with five strikeouts. The kid can flat out pitch and his knowledge of how to pitch is even more impressive. Wilson had made a comment about how much better his Cutter has gotten since the season and he wasn’t lying one bit. It almost looks like a slider at times but when Wilson puts a little extra on it, the hard/late action creates a lot of swing and miss from the hitters. The velocity on the SL/CT was between 84-86 mph, with the spin just north of 2,000 RPM. Wilson possesses a heavy fastball with tons of movement on and was getting a ton of swing and miss when he was mixing in the breaking balls. The heater was working between 90.2-91.5 mph with a max spin rate of 2189 rpm. Wilson has a max IVB of 18.7 with an average of 16.3, which shows why his fastball is firm and it gets on hitters quicker than they think. Wilson has electric stuff and will only continue to grow and get better. Wilson mixed in his curveball sitting in the range of 76-80 mph with a max spin rate of 2,056 rpm. It’s a real four pitch mix with a chance to develop a fifth pitch as he matures. I'm a huge fan of the fastball and cutter, Wilson has got a shot to be a real high quality arm in the whole country.

Wilson is coming into this season as one of the top ‘27 arms in the whole state, Wilson was the only freshman last year to make the A’s Area Code Underclass team last summer. Seeing his size during pregame, I was impressed on how much stronger he’s gotten since the summer. During the BP before the game, Wilson was putting on some good swings in the cage, a lot of his approach was to the middle of the field trying to get base hits. In the game, Davis went 1-3 with a nice base hit to left field. Wilson also started on the bump for the Broncos, another big reason I wanted to come down to the Central Valley. Coming out the gate, Davis was pounding the zone with fastballs which was sitting between 89-93 MPH. There is a lot of tilt in his fastball when it comes out the hand. Wilson had a plethora of pitches in his bag that he showed off. His curveball was sitting between 76-77 with some good break, his sweeper was between 81-83 MPH. The pitch that I thought was the most effective was the cutter, when thrown to left handed hitters it was unhittable, he adds velocity to it as well so it's more firm out the hand. It's for sure a swing and miss pitch that will be deadly in the next couple years. I was very impressed by Wilson since he’s only a sophomore, the young buck has a very high ceiling and will only continue to dominate as he gets older and sticks to baseball.
