Del Bonta-Smith

8-1-2018: This could be an interesting senior sign for someone next summer. Del Bonta-Smith put together a solid 2018 campaign for the Spartans, tallying a 3.99 ERA in 47.1 innings, along with five saves, 22 walks and 54 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. This summer, Del Bonta-Smith has been exceptional, tallying 36 strikeouts and walking just two batters in 20.2 innings. He’s also recorded five saves and has an 0.87 ERA. Del Bonta-Smith has some strength in his legs, but isn’t an overly imposing pitcher at 6-foot, 190 pounds. The Spartans senior sat 88-90 and up to 91 mph with his fastball in a short stint, while also flashing a slider. Del Bonta-Smith is missing more bats and showing better command this summer. That could pay dividends for he and the Spartans come 2019. (K Rogers)
