Corder hit at the top of the Damien lineup and across four at bats the LH hitter flashed an interesting offensive profile which caught my eye the first time seeing him. A Fr. on the varsity level for me is always going to draw intrigue and then one who not only is competing, but showing flashes of success is going to solidify that intrigue and Corder did that in this first look. His pitch recognition is sound recognizing spin/soft well and being on time to launch for the FB with a quick swing that showed in game line to line leverage. His pitch selection looked solid and his at bat quality improved over the course of the game with four at bats. In his first plate appearance he lofted a fly ball to LF in a left on left at bat and did the same in his second trip to the dish facing a RHP. But, in his final two trips to the plate he ambushed a pair of pitches out over the plate to the RCF gap one the RF ran down for an L-9 the other he was able to stay in the zone with his barrel despite being early on the pitch to leverage it over the INF for a 1B. Corder looks sound in CF, but I’m told his primary spot is INF and could take over the spot in the future for Damien and a LH hitting with versatile defense with solid feel for the offensive side of the game should make him a name to keep eyes on going forward.

Batting leadoff for Damien, Corder demonstrates the type of offensive skill set that should allow him to thrive in that position. With multiple quality at-bats during the game, Corder saw over 15 pitches in three plate appearances with a hard hit ball to left field for a base hit to show for it. It’s a very good approach at the plate where he keeps his process simple while flashing hand and bat speed presently. In the outfield he’s a good route taker with an average present arm.
