Rhodes has been an important two-way player for the Hawks this spring playing sound defense at the premium spot of CF while adding strong work in the relief on the mound. This Saturday look was solely at his ability as a LH hitter playing CF and Rhodes demonstrated a solid present toolset on each side of the game. At the plate Rhodes is quick and compact with his swing path staying through the middle of the field with more leverage in the contact profile which suits a doubles power profile for him. He demonstrated solid present swing decisions over three at bats staying off some borderline FB’s up in his first AB to draw a walk, followed it up by jumping on an offering over the plate early in his second AB to line a single to RCF and finally just missed his third hit when he pulled a line drive into shallow RF which the RF made a tremendous diving play on to steal his second hit of the day. Defensively, he was sound moving around from gap to gap and coming in on balls (didn’t have anything hit over his head to see his ability to track rearward) and flashed a solid arm including an online accurate throw to 3B on one hop in game.
