This was my first look at Harmon in game action, after seeing him for the first time at the NorCal Preseason All-State event in January. After taking note of his showing at the event, Harmon delivered on both sides of the ball in the win over San Rafael. Pitching on zero days rest and against the same lineup, Harmon finished with a final line of 6 IP, 7 H, 6 K, 2 BB, and 1 R. The first time through the order, Harmon relied heavily on his FB (flashed a CH) , showing good ride at the top of the zone/above the letters, generating a number of whiffs. After giving up some hard contact in the middle innings, Harmon changed his approach the third time through the order, pitching backwards and going to his breaking balls much more often, confident throwing both in the zone for strikes. Harmon’s SL/CB both demonstrate solid movement profiles, with the SL displaying tight, late break and the CB showing good downward action. With smooth mechanics and repeatable delivery, Harmon demonstrates good control of all three pitches. Hitting out of the 5-spot, Harmon reached base in all four trips, putting together 4 quality AB’s. After a 5 pitch BB in his first trip, Harmon would follow up with back-to-back hard-hit singles, an 0-2 FB up the middle and one through the left side for 2 RBI. Harmon would close out his day with a bases loaded walk in the 6th. In the box, Harmon has a somewhat long stroke but can get his hands out in front often for a pull-side/up-the-middle approach. The Ole Miss commit remains disciplined at the plate while showing good bat-to-ball skills, fighting off multiple 2-strike pitches to create a strong, all-around profile.
