2/16/19 - Limongelli is bouncing back from an illness that saw him lose 15-pounds just before the start of the season. Thanks in part to a 4,000 calorie-a-day diet, he’s gaining the weight and added strength back to his frame. The Princeton commit looked sharp in the early goings of his outing where he worked 85-87 with the fastball that touched 88 twice in his 4.2 innings pitched. What impressed is his improved feel for the changeup which he threw in most plus counts and landed them for strikes. Limongelli’s curveball showed some looseness we hadn’t seen before from the usually sharp, biting pitch. However, the looseness added some deception to the pitch as he varied that with his more traditional sharp, biting curveball.
4/18/18 - Uncommitted. The righty took the mound against Notre Dame in a huge game two of a three-game series. Limongelli was up to 88 early and sat mostly 85-86 throughout his start in which he scuffled with his command on all pitches. His fastball did show some tailing action when entering the zone and was consistently on a downhill plane. Limongelli's curveball was consistent in break and sharpness at 74-76 and showed good depth while his changeup continues to be a very good pitch with late fading action when entering the zone at 75-78. Limongelli is a confident pitcher on the mound and is not afraid to attack hitters with his repertoire no matter the end result. Pitches with conviction.
4/3/18 - 4/6/18 - Was up to 88 early on and mostly 84-86. Uptempo delivery, and when he found his rhythm there was some downhill action to the fastball. Confident and composed on the mound as if he were coached up to do that. 76 changeup and 75 curveball. Stiffer elbow from high ¾ slot. Hand gets inside most of the time. Lost command at times, but when he was uptempo and confident, he pounded down. Late getting the ball out of the glove over the rubber at times. Also swings it ok from the left side.
