Goshorn put together an outstanding Jr. campaign as the number two starter for a Pioneers team which claimed a Coastal Canyon League title and rose as high as No. 24 in the 2025 Prep Baseball California Power 25. With eye-opening numbers this was my first chance to see the southpaw toe the rubber and evaluate the tools producing those numbers (saw during Fall/Winter scrimmage circuit as LH hitter). Goshorn has a clean delivery which maintains direction well down the mound into foot strike while staying online through the delivery with a consistent finish and flashing the ability to block his lead leg effectively with the occasional pull off towards his glove side, but nothing significant. His arm action is medium to short in length working to a traditional 3/4 slot with minimal to no recoil after releasing which played into his ability to get stronger as the game progressed. Goshorn worked off a three pitch mix with a FB living at 80-83 MPH while touching 84 MPH early in the outing with a riding shape that played well above the belt or above the zone and was able to ride it at the knees to get called strikes or soft GB contact. The southpaw mixed in a pair of solid breaking balls with a 75-77 MPH SLD (shorter tighter shape with more of a cutter like action) which he used as a soft contact pitch and a 71-73 MPH CB which tunneled effectively off the shape of his FB flashing power to the shape when thrown down for chase. His control wavered early in the start appearing to be a product of adrenaline with his body rushing down the mound in front of his arm in the first inning leading to arm side high misses with his FB and elevated breaking balls with minimal shape. Once Goshorn settled in the second inning and going forward the foundation of a solid three pitch arsenal and feel to pitch/control his arsenal began to evidence itself with great success. The operation is sound in the delivery and arm action with a strong foundation to his process as a pitcher while still projecting some upward growth for his pitch arsenal and process of pitching which could increase his future performance even above the eye-popping numbers he posted in a Jr. campaign.
