Notes

Comments

7/11/21

Body: With room to grow in a 6’2” frame, his body is athletic and lean

Hit: With bat on his shoulders, and a bit of body movement, Jacob swing is about timing.  He gets on his back side well, and keeps feet into the ground for stability.  Good bat control, stays inside the ball well.  Hits the ball out front.

Power: Staying through the ball was key, posted a 94.6 exit speed.

Arm: Posting a low of 2.06 pop time, Jacob has a quick short arm action that comes straight from ear.  Does stay on line and out front of each throw.

Defense: Good set up with a wide base and feet that work quick for blocking and throwing.  Moves laterally well and good scoop and throw to first.

Run: Uses his long lean body for strides, ran a 7.44

2/06/21

Body: 6-2, 175-pounds. Athletic shape, long and lean with space for projection
Hit: RHH. Even stance, hands sit on the back shoulder; rocks back with changes in load between toe-tap and foot hover dependent on timing. Hands work down to the ball with quick upwards path; when on time showed the ability to create lift to the pullside and flashed power that way as well. 72 Max Bat speed, 70% On Plane Efficiency
Power: 94.60 mph exit velocity.
ArmRH. C - 79.00 mph. Longer action showed the ability to flick it out
Defense1.99-2.05 pop times. Small gains in the ground when making pops. Athleticism shows up in blocking/recovery of baseball
Run7.29 runner in the 60.

11/14/20

Power: 92 mph exit velocity in live BP via TrackMan. 20.1 max hand speed, 68.8 max bat speed (64.93 avg).
Arm: RH. C - 78 mph. Easy quick arm, flick release, consistently around bag, occasional trailed on arm side.
Defense: 1.93-2.11 pop times. Quiet efficient release, athletic quick feet, agile receiver, soft to stick receive, sees pitch early with quiet actions.
Run: 7.33 runner in the 60.

2/01/20

PBR Far North Preseason I D - Long and lean with some visible present strength at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Cullen is a very intriguing sophomore catching prospect. The metrics will continue to improve as he trains and gains more skill, because the talent is present. Strong hitting hands with some present pop, particularly to the pull-side. Creates some quite a bit of loft in the swing and showed the ability to finish with a good top hand, while working inside the ball. The 77 mph catcher velocity, at his age, is impressive and it's realistic to expect him to climb over 80 as he develops. To sum it up, an offensive type catcher with a future above average to plus arm.
