4/13/18 – The uncommitted, smooth left handed swinging sophomore stringed together 3 quality at-bats going 1 for 4 with a ringing 2B. He scored a run and was hit by a pitch. Burden displays high level bat-to-ball skills and a whippy bat with natural lift in the swing. Burden demonstrates gap-to-gap type power presently, but as his body matures and adds more strength, you will see the development of this power tool.
4/3/18 - 4/6/18 - Really like the way this kid sets up. He's confident with a wider base that starts open with his hands a bit higher. Barrel is flat through the zone. Barrel stays in the zone for a good amount of time on an uphill path. Not an "all-out" swing, but he had some good cuts. Long frame and works uphill. Should fill out significantly in the next couple of years, and we can see him making a big jump. Shows off some solid make-up speed on tough fly balls. Hands push out slightly at the plate. Still looks to be a year away.
1/12/18 - Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 150 pound frame projects to add strength with more physical maturation. Long, lean build with squared shoulders. One of the top outfielders in his class in the state. Elite athleticism with a very high baseball IQ. Burden flashes good bat speed from an upright, neutral stance. Keeps his hands in close and shows the ability to pull the ball. Has very good plate discipline and zone awareness. Is able to recognize pitches quickly. Big arm in the outfield. Throws were online and showed carry. Attacks balls under control and in good position.
