Kasten, a North Carolina commit, closed the door this Friday night with a dominant 3 inning performance. Of the nine outs recorded, seven were a result of strikeouts. He gave up no hits, and went right after hitters. Of the seven K’s, five were a result of his upper 80’s fastball, and two were frozen by his hammer of a curveball. Kasten gets down the mound well and lives low in the zone, but has no problem elevating his fastball in favorable counts. The curveball is sharp, and has a ton of action. Starting at a right hander's jaw, it is no doubt an intimidating pitch. The two pitches paired together are a deadly combo, but his changeup still flashes potential that can make him even more of a hassle for hitters as his career advances.

Kasten, a North Carolina commit, had an efficient Saturday with 4 innings of work that saw him fan 6 hitters on the day. Of his 6 strikeouts, 5 were a result of his fastball. Despite three walks, he did a quality job of getting out of trouble with weak contact and strikeouts when needed. At a lanky 6’2, Kasten gets down the mound well and attacks hitters with his upper 80’s fastball, and mixes in a sharp curveball that keeps hitters off balance. While his changeup was only shown a handful of times, there is potential for the pitch to be a quality offspeed option. Kasten proves he is a difficult arm to face.
