3/7/18 - 6’3/200, Junior. Working from the first base side of the rubber, he showed a controlled, almost hesitant delivery with good balance and a slightly closed landing. Repeated it well. Compact arm action to H slot with a lower release point. Hides the ball well from the hitter. Fastball ranged from 87-89 his entire outing. It was a very true pitch early in the game. Had a little cut in later innings. Had to be fine with location. Slider is, by far, his best pitch. It’s his go to, swing/miss out pitch. Threw any count at 80-81 mph. Added a 75-77 mph curveball to the mix in the middle innings. Fly ball pitcher on this look. Very poised and managed the game extremely well, mainly sticking to his strengths, while occasionally exploiting the hitter’s weakness. While he’s not overpowering by any means, his plus slider and performance in a major conference do have value. He should be selected in the latter half of Day 2.
