A compact, wiry built LH hitter Medina occupies two prominent roles on the Vikings squad and shows really intriguing tools across the board. Medina will not draw your attention at first glance based on his build, but if you pay attention to what he can do in-game you will find yourself locked in on the Hueneme leadoff hitter/CF. With a disciplined plate approach that forces pitchers into the zone while showing strong bat to ball with a compact swing that features sneaky quick hands with impact LVG to the pull side. Starting the game with a nine pitch AB which he struck out he quickly made his impact felt over the next three trips to the dish by lacing a triple over the head of the RF showcasing his strong speed tool, dropped down a perfect BH bunt (4.1 H-1B), drew a five pitch walk, then nearly beat out a ground ball to the 3-4 hole in a foot race with the Fillmore pitcher (4.15 H-1B) he profiles as a long term table setter who can create impact getting on base (31 BBs on the season), be a disruptive baserunner (14 SBs), and score runs. He is solid defender in CF who covered ground laterally to his glove side on a hard line drive to take away extra bases and comfortably comes in on the ball while adding a solid accurate arm to 3B/Home during INF/OF and on an in-game throw. The baseball profile for Medina is a comfortable solid overall one and if he can add some strength to his wiry frame before graduation can tick up, but he has the ability to play at the college level.
