1/19/19 - Naranjo's approach continues to be consistent and confident, and his frame appears to be a bit stronger than when I last saw him in October. The Fullerton recruit's, 6-foot, 175-pound frame looks to have added strength to the lower-half, and he gets into that base at the plate from the left side. He got a bit too big at times trying to do too much, which created a longer path, but the stroke is still smooth with easy lag in the zone, and a slightly uphill path. Interesting to not is that Naranjo split time at first base and in the outfield on the day, and his ability to potentially do the latter could help elevate his draft stock.

10/19/22 - 1B Joseph Naranjo (Ayala HS, CA) is a pure hitter, possessing a compact, balanced swing while generating bat speed and strength through contact. The Cal-State Fullerton recruit is mechanically quiet and simple, yet is aggressive and decisive at launch. The ball jumps off his bat and has natural loft in the swing. On Friday, Naranjo went 2-for-3 with an opposite-field double.

7/15/18 - Naranjo is a guy we've seen since he was an incoming freshman and simply put the guy is a ballplayer. His approach at the plate is mature beyond his years and the results are fantastic. Naranjo is short to the ball and long through it with current gap-to-gap line drives and shows flashes of pull side power. Defensively he's a vacuum at first base where he shows excellent footwork and scoops anything within reach. He's athletic and his baseball IQ is off the charts. There may not have been a more competitive player at the tryout.

6/29/18 - Naranjo didn't put up loud numbers between Tournament of Stars and trials, going 7-for-29, but he consistently made hard contact and struck out just three times. In his first at-bat Thursday, he squared up a 93 mph fastball for a single back up the middle and then he hit a hard fly ball to deep center field.

Arguably one of the top left-handed bats in the state, Naranjo had a big summer on the showcase circuit where his power played up and his ability to pepper the gaps continued to show itself. Hands are fast and his bat speed is obvious. Consistently gets the barrel on the ball from a short, compact swing that he extends post contact. Does a a very good job of incorporating the lower half and driving using his strength there to generate power. Has shown to have over-the-fence power which should develop more consistently on the next level.

5/18/18 - The Cal State Fullerton commit took the mound in the CIF SS Semifinals and was once again his usual brilliant self. The southpaw worked 84-87 with his fastball that shows some arm side run and late life when pounding in on righties. Naranjo's changeup is a present above average pitch as is shows late fading action and serves as an out pitch when thrown to lefties because of his ability to command and locate it. The pitch worked 75-77 throughout his outing. His curveball was was 68-71 and shows true two-plane break. Also a pitch Narnajo has excellent command of, the curveball was his best pitch on the day often resulting in swing-and-miss or weak contact. Despite being on a limited pitch count due to his recent return from injury, Naranjo maintained his velocity and command throughout his outing.

Pure hitter with projectable power from the left side. Also flashes a true three-pitch mix on the mound which includes a mid-to-upper 80's fastball. One of the top hitters in the region who is a true two-way player at the college level.
