4/13/18 - Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame; medium frame with long and lean build throughout; flexible and athletic build showing sloping shoulders with high waist. Projectable body and quick armed with above average control and makings for similar command. 5IP, 2H, 1R, 1K, 2BB. Stands tall on mound with glove high on chest. Simple side-step delivery with slight lift of hands matched with high front knee. Stands tall on back leg with front leg going straight down before back leg drives him down the hill. Arm has some length in back out of the glove, but showed late quickness out of 3/4 slot. Controlled effort with strong backside carry over a stiff front leg. Fastball had late life at the plate and worked best when he pounded glove side down. Heavy usage in outing with pitch having small cut glove side when missing off the plate; pounded zone with pitch regularly moving to both sides of plate. Pitch has makings to be an above average pitch if velocity can continue to increase. Change-up was straight, but showed the ability to really turn over with late sink arm side. Flashed as an above average pitch; lots of weak groundballs/flyballs in outing. Slider was used late in the outing as was facing the lineup through the 2nd time.Flashed average with small lateral break and limited depth; had a tendency to slow arm down to make pitch work best. Threw a lot of pitches in 1 st inning, but got out of trouble and cruised for next 4 innings. Really liked his competitive spirit and ability to zero up a potent offense after teams scored lots of runs in previous half-inning.Overall control was above average after 1st with flashes of above average command of the fastball/change combo.
