Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Medium athletic body. Filled out and strong upper half. Hit: RHH. Relaxed set up in stance with low hands. Level compact stroke (71.8% on-plane efficiency) that worked the middle of the field throughout his round. Power: 87.00 max exit velocity. 69 mph average bat speed is above average for his level. Current gap to gap power with potential for more. Arm: RH. INF - 75.00 mph. Shorter arm action. 5/5 accurate during the workout. Quick to release. Ability to throw on the run. 1/5/19- SoCal Preseason All-State (fielding) - Mas shows good footwork where he circles balls and gets and funnels them out front. Exchanges are clean while his throws show some accuracy. As he continues to develop physically he should see an uptick in the strength of his throws. At the plate he shows the ability to catch up to pitches on the inner half with quick hands. Squared balls up consistently into the outfield.
1/5/19- SoCal Preseason All-State (pitching) - 5-foot-11, 145 pounds, two-way player, short and slim, athletic build, plenty of room for growth and maturity. Fluid and consistent mechanics, good balance, easy effort pitch to pitch, releases the ball from an over the top arm angle. Slow and deliberate effort hinders arm speed and command despite solid hip drive. Fastball flashed slight sink and downward movement. Curveball showed potential with 12/6 break but lacked sharp action and command. Young pitcher with fluid mechanics and balance, will benefit from growth and pitch development.
10/20/18 - Los Angeles Open - Five-foot-11, 145-pounds, Large frame that is long, lean, and wiry strong. Mas shows smooth rhythm on the mound while working in-line down the mound and landing square to the target. Tends to fall off after release. Arm is loose with average speed from an over-the-top slot with regular effort. Fastball is fairly straight but he shows excellent command of the pitch while working to both sides of the plate it. Starts the pitch at the knees and keeps it down. Curveball shows early with tight spin and a 12/6 shape. He commanded the pitch well for the most part. Throws pitch with fastball arm speed. Mas showed feel for a changeup that flashed sinking action with some run into righties. From fastball arm speed he kept the pitch in the strike zone consistently.
10/20/18 - Los Angeles Open - Five-foot-11, 145-pounds, medium frame that is long, lean, and wiry strong. High waisted with long limbs. Mas showed well in all facets throughout the day. At the plate he shows a short-to-the ball attack where he uses his quick hands to whip the barrel through the zone with a middle-middle approach. Uses a balanced setup with a smooth load and short stride. Does a fair job of using his lower half in the swing. Defensively he shows feel for playing on the dirt with athletic actions and excellent body control. Arm strength is average presently with accuracy. Arm is loose. Hands are soft and footwork is fluid. Plays through balls with clean exchanges. On the mound Mas flashes some deception with a shoulder turn and high leg kick before coming from a high-¾ slot. Shows feel for secondary pitches - changeup and curveball. Fastball shows late action as it gets to the plate. Rhythm is smooth with minimal effort.
