2/15/19: Stocky, mature bodied at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. Solid athlete with pitchability. Good arm speed on all pitches. Flat up in the zone early with fastball as well as breaking ball. Continued to compete with all three pitches. Settled in finding occasional sink on 86-91 mph fastball and depth to slurvy 76-77 mph breaking ball. Change up at 78-80 mph was best pitch early, breaking ball late. Solid repeatable delivery with limited effort, holding velocity. Velocity may be able to play up a touch out of the pen. Didn't see a ton of deception. Competitiveness and athleticism carry him, ceiling as backend of rotation, likely pen arm up and down with low end value as org type innings eater. (Gouldsmith)
10/24/18: Medium frame with current strength in longer legs and in wide chest; athletic build with looseness in hips and arms. Simple delivery with hands starting at chin going down and staying at waist on side step; pause on side step before high front knee with back turn and drop in back knee as he drives down the hill. Arms drop and get long with back arm showing behind back and glove side working out towards catcher before quickly pulling tucked creating rotational velocity. Mid- release point from quick arm that works cleanly through long actions staying in time with the lower half and working out in front of flexed knee. Fastball 90-92 mph, touched 93 and held velocity over two innings of work. Average FB was rarely straight having arm-side run, glove-side cut and sink late at the plate missing barrels and creating weak contact and soft fly balls. Slider 84-86 mph with short, small break. Average pitch with flashes of bite off the plate glove-side and flashes of tilted depth; times where he works around the pitch making it break early and sweepy. Curveball 79-80 mph with short depth and 10/5 action; pitch flashed average showing feel early and ability to break for more depth through the zone when seeking punch out. Changeup 80-82 with arm-side sink off the FB path; flashed above average with arm speed that matched FB and late differentiation from the FB. Showed average command getting ahead early while locating all pitches; sequenced pitches to keep batters off balance going back to pitches when hitters were off time and switching sequence with batters.
