v Scotts Valley - Uncommitted. Plunkett continues to swing a hot bat for the Cardinals going 2-3 with 3 RBIs reaching base in all 3 of his plate appearances. Drove a hanging BB through the middle of the diamond to score 2 runs before driving a 2B into the RCF gap in his last AB picking up another RBI. Showed his team-first ability executing a Sac Bunt that led to 3 runs in the 5th inning. Defense at SS was ok making a mistake on a ball in the hole, but shows the footwork to stick in the middle of the diamond. Strength in upper half starting to show up more in games.
At Harbor - Uncommitted. Medium framed 2B went 2-2 with 1B, 2B, 4RBI. Flashed quick hands staying inside of pitch and driving it to the RCF wall for 2B. Starting to show more patience at the plate swinging at better pitches with his middle of the field approach. Clean footwork around the bag for double-play turns with flashes of range to both sides there. Arm fits well at 2B with possibility of filling in at SS when needed. Has gotten stronger from previous year and chance to keep playing well and make some more jumps with bat.
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame; Long legs and high waist build with wiry strength in upper body. Projectable middle infielder flashing range and glove along with quality approach at plate. Smooth fielding 2B showed off impressive range going into RF to make diving plays as well as going up middle. Average arm that probably a tick below if moved to left side of field; showed quick release and accuracy of throws including on run. Crouched, wide stance at plate with hands up around back ear. Balanced load into back hip transferring weight well before getting hands quickly into path; hits over stiff front leg finishing high in air with both hands. Oppo approach currently, but showed ability to control barrel and drive ball that way. Average runner that plays up with quick first couple steps and length in stride; 4.9 on turn for double. Could see better run times as he matures and strengthens. A high follow for 2020 class.
