Johnson showed the ability to perform in live game looks this spring and it was no different in a workout setting. The 5-8, 154-pound infielder impressed with an event best 6.90 60-yard dash and showed sneaky pop at the plate, which can go under the radar due to his compact frame. Johnson posted a 94.8 mph max exit velocity (88.5 mph avg.) with a 360’ max batted distance. He homered multiple times in BP and his Blast Motion metrics were strong across the board and among the leaders from the event, with swing metrics including a 73.4 average bat speed (75.8 max) and rotational acceleration peaking at 28.3 Gs (22.0 avg). He produced consistent hard contact (58.3% hard hit & sweet spot rates), flashing a compact, quick stroke with barrel accuracy. Defensively, he showed sound actions with a 78 mph arm velocity and is a 2B/3B profile with 2B looking like the more natural long-term spot as things currently stand. There is a lot to like with Johnson’s game as he plays with a hard-nosed edge and winning mentality.
