Notes

Comments

10/17/21

Body: 6-4, 205-pounds. Tall, lengthy and high waisted. Athletic projectable body.
Hit: RHH. Stands upright and slightly open in stance. Simple forward stride as the barrel pops up and hands move back. Slight elbow hitch before it slots into the hitting zone. Smooth upward bat path. Creates good leverage with body tilt being maintained through the swing and front leg snapping firm at finish. Consistent LD barrels that worked gap-gap throughout his BP round.
Power: 95.00 max exit velocity. Some present pullside power. 19gs average rotational acceleration is above average for his level.
Arm: RH. INF - 71.00 mph. 5/5 accurate throws during defensive workout. Short arm action needed for an INF. Quick to release on DPs. Easy effort. Average arm strength.
Defense: Moves well for his size. Clean quick exchanges to his throwing hand. Confident glove actions. Solid around the bag.

Delivery: Easy and repeatable delivery. Side steps into a knee tuck that gets him into his backhip. Drifts down the mound with minimal push off the rubber. Decent length in stride with landing leg. Finishes hard and firm at landing. Lands slightly off to 3B side of the rubber.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm with a medium arm swing that works up early. Worked from the H3/4 slot with above average extension out front. Easy effort. Struck-out 3 in 2 innings.
FB: T81, 79-81 mph. Solid command (67% zone percentage). Worked to all quadrants but played well up in the zone. Above average extension out front increases perceived velocity.
SL: 64-68 mph. Sweeper due to minimal VB. Produced whiffs and weak contact. Decent command.

8/25/18

PBR N CA Underclass Games - 6-foot-3, 186-pounds, big tall rangy and broad body type, good delivery that he repeated quite well especially given his age and size. High-3/4 slot, short easy arm action, good timing of separation and lower half mechanics, got to firm and flexed front side with good finish, didn’t look like a long stride but he gains good ground down the slope, all of which was a reason that his stuff was so sneakily effective even in the mid-70s. Hitters repeatedly took fastballs for strikes which indicates that they didn’t see it well and the life was unexpected. Slow curveball but willing to mix it with good fastball usage. Will need velocity gains but given ease of his delivery and the body type, he should steadily climb. Offensively has a short swing that was working uphill a bit much. Calm stride, had some negative momentum as he got to contact and hit off his backside. Can develop better transfer of weight throughout his swing and through contact. Defensively showed soft hands and light feet, tools fit more for 1st base than 3rd.
