The 6’4, 190 pound southpaw threw several efficient innings this past Tuesday. The TCU commit was off to a rocky start featuring two unlucky balls off of the third base bag, as well as a pair of walks in the first. Brassfield quickly overcame the start by delivering several perfect innings in a row. He uses his height to his advantage getting down the mound well and attacking hitters with his fastball that sat at 88-90 on the day topping at 91. However, it is Brassfield’s slider that really allows him to miss bats or ensure weak contact. This heavy offspeed pitch sat at a consistent 80-81 on the day and was thrown with confidence. A very difficult lefty to face no matter which side of the plate you choose, Brassfield features a solid mix of pitches to keep hitters off balance.
