California State Games - Presently Holcomb is in the category of pitch-maker, crafty, strike-throwing right-hander. Nothing wrong with that and frankly, coming off a strong varsity season as a sophomore (in one of best leagues in California), what he is now should make him notable among college coaches. He can still add raw stuff and when he does, if he does, he already has pitchability... vs those in his peer group who may have more present stuff but lack pitchability.

Matthew Holcomb, St. Francis (CA), 2025 Positional Profile: RHP Holcomb possesses pitch-ability. He understands and can react to the hitter's swings. Add in good control and he's extremely effective. Body: 6-0, 199-pounds. Built out base, flexible. Delivery: Legkick is extended leg back towards the SS which then kicks to 90 degrees. Comfortable throwing all pitches effectively out of the slide step. Arm Action: RH. Clean and efficient arm action, comes from over the top. FB: Good life on FB, tails a good bit into RHH. CB: Great CB shape, great control allows him to hit it in the zone, right below the zone and the dirt. CH: Same shape as FB a part from last-minute dive. Tunnels really well.
