4/17/19

Fresno Easter Classic 4/15 - 4/17/2019 - Fullerton Commit. Showed strong range in LF with the footspeed to close on ball. Used that same footspeed to beat out chopper to 3B (4.15 H-1st) scoring game tying run in Bottom 6th. Bat flashes pop to pull side. / Impact run-producing hitter in the Buchanan line-up and is always one mistake pitch away from changing a game... which he did in this one when he got a 1-0 curveball in the 6th inning and rode it out over the left field wall for a 2-R homer to tie the game at 2-2. He's got a quick trigger, plenty of bat speed and raw strength and in multiple viewings he's shown the ability to hunt a pitch in a situation and do damage. Very dangerous hitter, both physically and mentally.

3/01/19

vs Franklin HS - Cal State Fullerton signee, thick stoutly built with good strength, he provided the moment that made the most noise in this game as his homer in the 6th inning was a bomb. He took advantage of one of the few mistakes made by 2019 LHP Grant Stevens and when he saw that high change-up, it didn't take long to leave the yard and clear the trees in left. He's a compactly built player with strength and a great swing trigger. Didn't have much to do in left field in this game but his arm strength showed up as near average in pre-game. Offensively is where he stands out. He generally was hunting middle-in and showed discipline to lay off pitcher's pitches on the outer third and in the bottom part of the zone. He's got good plate coverage, which allowed him to jump that high change-up and pull it to left. Plenty of presence in the box and each time he steps in there is a feeling that he could explode on a ball. On a team full of very talented senior position players, he's the one in the 4-hole expected to drive in the runs. There will be some strikeouts vs better pitching, as he didn't show much, if any, of a two strike approach. But he does start his lower half each swing and is ready to hit, each pitch, with hands that are generally short to and through the ball. He has already made his own name but gut feel says he will get increased draft buzz as scouts come in to see a teammate or two. It's his ability to perform, along with his tools, that will be recognized.

7/13/18

USA PDP workout Stockton (CA) - Cal State Fullerton commit, strong streamlined body type, built in a way that you can envision him playing multiple sports. BP rounds showed quiet body with strength in his swing, flat path and gap to gap approach, sees it well, strength plays and at times showed good bat control. High step timing mechanism, tall set-up with slightly open stance, can muscle the ball on occasion and can sync up his lower half better with his hands. Defensively showed off a good release and ball came out of his hand well, projects as near average arm on pro scale. Live at-bat resulted in K on 85 mph FB inside from RHP. Strong kid with some tools to keep him on the radar for scouts into the spring.
