1/04/20
Orange County Preseason All-State - left-handed hitting catcher with a solid build at 6-foot 170 pounds. Currently the #120 player in the state for the 2021 class. Ran well for the catching group as he posted a 7.11 60-yard dash. Showed good actions while catching and handled the pitchers well during the bullpen session. Favored the one-knee catching set-up and was able to show some blocking skills during that time. Pop-time of 2.01-2.08 showed 4 of 5 on the bag but three of the throws were on hops. Showed quick bat speed and low hands which should serve him well with velocity jumps. Timing is key to his load and contact point and could create swing and miss. Solid skill set and athleticism behind the plate make him an uncommitted name to watch
9/14/19
Uncommitted. Six-foot, 170-pounds. Medium/large frame with proportional strength throughout with squared shoulders and a high waist. Beckley showed off his defense behind the dish during the gameplay where he consistently smothered balls in the dirt and used his athleticism to recover and limit advancement from baserunners. Shows soft hands with a quick, accurate arm that should continue to develop strength. Offensively Beckley uses a high leg lift trigger to initiate his swing before driving through the ball with a strong back-leg push. Favoring the opposite field, Beckley has the bat speed and strength to pull one which he did for a double in-game. Shows good feel for the barrel and routinely squared balls up.
7/29/19
Uncommitted. Athletic build on a 6-feet, 175lbs frame. Body will be able to handle more additional weight and muscle. Displays an advanced college eye, patient at the plate, and takes close pitches. Hands are fast, displays above average bat speed and squares the ball up consistently. Beckley’s power will develop as his body matures, until then you will see high double totals. Has above average speed and looks to run early in counts.
