2021 MLB DraftTiedemann has a strong frame at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and can touch the mid 90s. He has advanced feel for a changeup and pitches with some effort from a 3/4 slot. His command can be a bit spotty, but once he finds a groove, he works downhill and can hit his spots. The fastball gets swings and misses up in the zone and the curveball is much improved from the early spring, showing tight spin, late bite and plenty of depth while coming from the same window as his fastball. And with his pronounced back turn, it's difficult for hitters to pick the pitch up early.

12/09/20

No. 5 in our recent Top 100 JUCO rankings, Tiedemann started on the mound for Team Red in Game 3 of the Saturday showing. While throwing a lot of pitches during his bullpen warmup, he stayed focused and intent on commanding the fastball. His in-game presence was impressive. Tiedemann looked and acted like the best player on the field. He made quick work in his one-inning showing; striking out the lead off batter on a 78 mph breaking ball, striking out the next batter on a 84 mph cutter/slider and retiring the third on a weak contact ground ball to the first baseman with a 93 mph fastball. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds he is strong, sturdy and athletic. He showed a balanced delivery that was repeatable with a proportional lower half drive and upper half arm action. His arm worked quickly with a medium arm swing and easy release. Showed the same arm speed with his fastball and breaking ball. Present fastball sat 91-93 mph with good angle, cut and carry through the zone. Struckout two batters with his 78-84 mph breaking pitch. Swing/miss pitch with tight spin. The bender was especially tough on left-handed hitters. His change is a work-in-progress at 73-76 mph, showing sink and cut at times. The development of this pitch is his key to remaining a starter. MLB Player Comp is Sean Manaea.

9/25/20

Tiedemann worked an inning during the scout ball game in which he faced five batters. The lefty made quick work of the first two batters working 90-92 and touching 93 several times. Command was a tick spotty initially before settling into his grove working the ball downhill to spots. Was able to use the fastball up in the zone for swing/miss results. Curveball is much improved even from early spring. With tight spin and late bite the pitch shows plenty of depth and baffled hitters all night. Pitch comes from the same window as fastball. With his pronounced back turn it's difficult for hitter to pick the pitch up early. He's made a 4-5 mph jump with the fastball in the last year. Changeup showed a lot of movement working 72-74 mph and serving as an excellent complimentary pitch to the curveball.

1/24/18

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 165 pound frame, lean, long limbs, squared shoulders, wiry-strong with room for continued physical development and growth. Tiedemann has present mound presence, utilizes a high leg kick, hides the ball very well, hard for hitters to pick up making his stuff play up a bit, high ¾ arm slot, maintains arm slot and speed on all pitches. Moves fastball around entire quadrant, pounds right handed hitters inside, fastball worked 81-82 mph touching 83 mph several times. Changeup has a lot of movement, pitch worked 72-73 mph. Curveball can be loose at times, when he gets on top it is sharp and shows late depth, pitch worked 69-71 mph.
