Bering continues to build on the momentum he created in 2025, once again showing an all-fields hit tool early this spring. He turned in a 2-for-3 performance, collecting two singles up the middle while also driving a ball the other way to left-center for a line/fly out. The approach remains consistent, with the ability to stay through the baseball and use the entire field. While it’s been a slower start to the year overall, the flashes of impact are still very much present. Physically, Bering moves well for his size and is beginning to settle into a role in right field after primarily playing first base last season. The shift allows his athleticism to play more freely, and his 87 mph arm with accuracy (seen at the SD Preseason All-State) fits the profile well in the corner. A two-way talent, he’s also expected to begin seeing regular time on the mound, giving him the opportunity to emerge as a true two-way contributor in San Diego. If the performances continue to build, Bering has the tools to establish himself as a name to follow closely this spring.

Positional Profile: LHP/OF Long, athletic LH two-way with visible leverage in the body, easy power in the movements, and a loose, projectable look both on the mound and in the outfield.
Body: 6-4, 189-pounds. Projectable frame with room to continue adding strength without losing athleticism.
Delivery: Works with a tall, flowing move that makes full use of the frame. The gather is unhurried, and the body stays upright as momentum builds down the mound, creating a long, leveraged look. The stride eats up ground, and the arm comes through after the body is already moving, giving the delivery a smooth, late-release feel.
Arm Action: LH. Arm works freely with a longer, relaxed path and comes through from a natural three-quarter window. The action looks loose and continuous rather than tight or robotic, with the ball coming out clean and easy.
FB: T86, 84-85 mph. Natural ASR, pitch plays with angle from the left side, and the ball stays off the barrel when located to the edges. T1912, 1778 average rpm.
SL: 72-72 mph. Clear shape change out of the same window, with a sweeping, gliding break. Different visual for hitters, especially when started near the zone and allowed to drift away late. T2359, 2211 average rpm.
CH: 75-78 mph. CH comes out looking similar to the fastball before losing plane near the plate, pulling swings out in front and producing off-balance contact. T1340, 1147 average rpm.

Hit: LHH. Powerful base to start. Lets the long frame work without excess tension. The hands start quiet and work into a smooth, unforced load. The stride is controlled and on time, and the swing unfolds with a long, fluid turn through the zone. The barrel stays in the hitting area for a while, creating a natural, easy-power look. 65.8 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 mph. 327' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-87 mph. Loose and continuous, matching the overall athletic look. The ball comes out with carry and stays on line, and the arm plays as a real asset from the OF grass.
Defense: Moves with long, easy strides in the OF, covering ground with glide rather than quick, choppy steps. Routes look clean and efficient, and the body stays under control working into the catch.

Bering continues to be a steady contributor in the middle of Carlsbad’s lineup. He tallied two more hits against the Falcons, bumping his average to .377 (20-for-53) on the season. A disciplined LHH, Bering shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields and has consistently competed in two-strike counts which was something that stood out during both of his ABs that resulted in hits during the contest. Back on April 9th, he barreled a line-drive single in my first live look, flashing a clean, compact swing with minimal effort. Through 17 games this spring, he’s driven in 12 runs with 2 doubles and a home run, continuing to deliver quality at-bats during his first season as an everyday starter for Carlsbad. Bering’s defensive flexibility, which includes handling both 1B and OF duties, adds to his value. He’s part of a strong sophomore core that’s made an early impact for the Lancers and is a huge reason why they are 11-6 this spring and just took the season series against Torrey Pines.
