Zirelli got the start for Junipero Serra, I hadn’t seen him since his 8th grade year, he’s grown a lot since then, up to 6’4” 190lbs now. Zirelli profiles as a starter, especially with his frame, but I was impressed by his confidence and his ability to attack the zone with strikes. He really utilizes a East/West attack, the Rams had a tough time trying to figure Zirelli out early in the game. Zirelli finished the day with three innings pitched, gave up only four hits, one earned run, and added four strikeouts. The St. Mary’s lineup was pretty gritty, and Zirelli didn’t seem to be phased one bit. With only being a sophomore, his potential down the road is going to be exciting to follow. His fastball was sitting between 84-87mph T88, curveball was 74-76mph, and his CH was 76-77 mph.
