2/24/19: Large-framed, athletic infielder at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. Unorthodox fielding actions, yet agile and steady. Lacks the smoothness of other top defenders, but Kreidler does it his way and is one of the top defenders in the college game. Light on his feet with a good first step, he has very good hands and is always in position to make the play or throw. Also has an above average-to-plus and accurate arm with a quick release and low effort. Much improved offensively compared to last spring and summer. Took good passes throughout the series and found the barrel consistently with a shorter and simplified swing than my previous looks. (Seifert)
8/20/18: Large framed shortstop at six-foot-four, 200 pounds. Lean and very agile for his size. Still some projection left in his frame. Doesn’t seem to be in danger of getting too big to stay at shortstop. Very light on his feet with a quick first step. Arm action is compact with low effort and plenty of strength to make the necessary throws. Plays with rhythm and understands how to control his body. The game doesn’t come quite as easily to him on the offensive end. Flashes a level swing with bat speed during batting practice but hasn’t found a way to consistently produce in-game. If the contact ability doesn’t improve, Kreidler will have to show better pitch recognition skills so he can hopefully draw more free passes. Even with the struggles at the plate, there’s no denying that he’s a next level defender who will at least be given an opportunity to prove himself there. (D Jurik)
3/2/18: Sophomore SS Ryan Kreidler is a smooth fielder with quick feet and plus defensive tools. Showed an average to above average arm with solid carry. Larger bodied for a middle infielder, he made all the plays and should have no trouble staying at shortstop. His bat needs improvement to be anything more than a bottom of the order hitter. (Seifert)
