Rosenthal put on a show against Bellarmine going 2-3 with a HR and 2B. Rosenthal stands at 6-4 with a strong projective frame. Rosenthal is an aggressive hitter in early counts as he looks to get extension through the zone, but he knows when to pull back his swing and take a strike. Rosenthal has a simple swing at the dish with a small stride and stays behind his lower half well. Throughout the game he got extension through the zone and did a nice job staying inside the baseball. His 2B to RF was impressive as he stayed on a FB on the outer half driving it past the RF. He displayed good speed out of the box for his frame making it to 2B with ease. His HR to LF came in the bottom of the 7th with SICP being down 1 run. He got a hold of a FB, turning on the pitch to drive a HR. His extension through the zone was great along with his approach, which was looking for a pitch to hit in his zone. Overall Rosenthal isn’t phased by key situations and delivered when his team needed it the most. He displayed power to all fields and consistently gets extension through the zone with simple/strong fundamentals at the plate.

Ryan Rosenthal, St. Ignatius College Prep (CA), 2026

Positional Profile: 1B/3B RH hitting power projection profile with 1B defensive projection

Body: 6-4, 215-pounds. Bigger frame with present strength to the build that can be polished as he matures.

Hit: RHH. Wider set up with feet and toes pointed slightly outward with knees outside shoulder and bend in them to go with a small hip hinge. Hands are set off the body below shoulder height about rear shoulder depth with low back elbow and nearly vertical bat angle. Minimal weight transfer back or hand movement with a small stride forward into a taller launch position with bat angle staying more vertical. Relies on hips to turn with shoulder driving through the ball and minimal sink into back knee. Hand path is direct with more leverage in the bat path than lift at present to stay through the middle of field.

Power: 100 max exit velocity, averaged 90.7 mph. 345' max distance. Has high top end EVs that project strength and power in profile, but path and contact quality leads to mostly line drive or ground ball contact will have to develop better feel to elevate ball to tap into power.

Arm: RH. INF-71 mph. Minimal arm circle with elbow leading the hand and almost a pushing like throwing motion. Does show quick release and accuracy, but lower end strength.

Defense: Big frame with solid glove projects to stick at 1B will need to polish his movements around the dirt to improve defensive potential.

ATH: 7.34 runner in the 60. 1.61 and 4.02 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Stays low in the build portion with quickness of the line that helps him build speed quicker. Short striding runner. 23.20 max vertical.

9/30/23

Event: NorCal Underclass Game
Positional Profile: 1B
Body: 6-3, 220-pounds. Physical and long, man-type build, broad and frame to hold more.
Hit: RHH. 73.7 mph avg bat speed with 12.4 avg G's of rotational acceleration. Every recorded BP swing was 93+ mph, bat speed and hand speed are impactful, fairly compact swing with the power profile suggests he’s going to be able to consistently get to the power, top hand provides impactful finish, pull power profile, wide feet with slightly open set-up, smooth medium stride, hands start low before stretching into load.
Power: 99.3 max exit velocity, 95.8 mph avg. 343' max distance.
Arm: RH. 1B - 78 mph. Short quick snap throw from lower slot.
Defense: Took workout at 1B, hops into prep step, creates clean early body position with footwork, slight left side drop step allows hips to work, moved around with nuanced feel, focused glove work and footwork at the bag, hands work cleanly.
ATH: 7.44 runner in the 60, 1.76 and 4.15 in the 10 and 30 yard splits, 18.6 max run speed.
