Shane Wendler, Servite High School (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Athletic right-hander with a repeatable delivery and high spin stuff that should project well with more development.
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Athletic build with long limbs and plenty of physical projection still ahead.
Delivery: Maintains an upright posture in the delivery, using a long, aggressive stride to create extension and downhill angle toward the plate. Operates with a smooth tempo that builds momentum under control. Mechanics are clean and repeatable, allowing for consistent timing, direction, and command across entire arsenal.
Arm Action: RH. Shows full arm extension with a brief pause at the back of the arm swing before moving into the throw. Creates a steep downhill plane and consistent angle with release point.
FB: T86, 84-85 mph. Four-seam FB with ride/run traits. Spin profile supports swing-and-miss potential at the top of the zone. T2520, 2326 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. 11–5 shape, combining significant vertical drop with solid glove-side sweep. Slower velocity adds to deception. Potential chase offering pitch when tunneled with the FB. T2240, 2222 average rpm.
SL: 71-73 mph. Sweeper profile with sharp, late tilt, making it effective for chasing hitters off the plate. Consistent command. T2462, 2369 average rpm.
CH: 73-76 mph. High-carry CH with moderate arm-side run and above-average spin, giving it more lift than typical CHs. Vertical profile allows it to stay on plane longer, disguising well off the FB. T2130, 2112 average rpm.

CB: 67-68 mph. Sharp CB with strong depth and lateral break. Around the zone. T2216, 2181 average rpm.

CH: 75-78 mph. Heavy fade low in the zone. T2058, 1793 average rpm.
While still only a sophomore, Wendler has a ways to go to reach his full potential but showed some flashes that were very intriguing in this outing. Long and lean, Wendler has long limbs and large feet giving the indication of future projection for the frame. A wiry strong 165-pounds, there’s plenty of room to add mass to the frame as well. Shows a pronounced stab and pause in the back of motion before coming almost over-the-top at release. The fastball at 82-84mph shows some ride in the zone while working on a downhill plane and gets on hitters in a hurry. The slider was, at times, sharp and biting though he did leave one up that was popped out to center field. It’s a pitch that with continued development will be a strength in his arsenal as it currently works 71-73mph and lands it for strikes while also getting three whiffs in this outing. All-in-all, Wendler should be a mainstay in the Servite rotation in the coming years.
