With a quick and clean arm action, Taylor runs his fastball up to 95. He complements it with a low-80s big league breaking ball and occasional changeup. After flashing mid-90s heat at the 2020 Best of the West JUCO Showcase and a covid-shortened spring season at Cypress, Taylor earned an even bigger prospect status by his performance in the highly competitive MLB Draft League: 10 starts, 4-2 record, 4.10 ERA, 52.2 IP, 54 H, 12 BB, 50 SO. He was then selected in the 20th round by Seattle, but did not sign.
The 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander is “The Pop-Up Guy” in California on the JC scene. His arm works with quick, clean action from a ¾ slot. He gets down the mound with a fast-paced delivery. Taylor has multiple weapons in fastball, curveball and changeup. His fastball sat 94-96 which included six 96s during his one-inning stint. CB was sharp and late-breaking at 83 mph.
