vs Prospect - Medium frame that is stocky and wide with young weight on the frame; stronger in the lower half and still has some years to tighten up. On mound keeps hands at chest through simple side-step and average leg lift with slight turn of the bac sinking into rear hip as he comes down hill. Delivery allows length in swing out of glove as arm works clean and loose to 3/4 release. Glove arm is passive and would like to see more tuck which could help improve velocity, but uses his legs well and head is still helping him throw a lot of strikes. Went 5IP, 5K, 4H, 1BB, 2R (0ER) and cruised through the first 4 innings with one batter reaching base. FB 73-77 T78 MPH was straight with ability to locate well to both sides of the plate, both up and down in zone; flashed cut at lower velo to gloveside. FB velocity would change from pitch to pitch and arm speed is inconsistent; when he had intent and wanted to let it go pitch had more life while maintaining ability to locate. CB 58-60 MPH with slow 1/6-to-1/7 action showing short hump before break, with flashes of depth. CB was his best offspeed pitch used mainly when ahead in the countwith ability to get swing and miss showing feel to the armside. CHG 69-72 MPH used sparingly with arm-side fade and limited depth; times where it floated. Mainly pitched with FB showing he could change spots and keep hitters off of it with mix of CB and change in velocity on FB. Worked with plus tempo and went right at hitters creating a lot of soft contact. If he can find consistency in the armspeed, velocity should tick up and make the pitches have better action. Pitcher to follow up on.
