10-24-2018: Similar to Waldichuk, Madrigal is working himself back into game speed after an extended summer and I got to see him work in the bullpen prior to the game. Medium, compact frame showing high waist, sloped shoulders and length in his arms. Abbreviated delivery where he gets his wrists down wide at his waist before having a turn of the glove to get his front elbow up high; stays balanced showing strong posture with a quick knee. Mid- arm is quick and compact with whippy actions throwing over a stiff front leg; very rotational pitcher showing intent on pitches with times where back legs kicks through behind the stiff front leg. Delivery creates deception and has ability to change tempo to throw hitters timing off. Fastball flashed average showing a small cut to the glove-side and working the bottom half of the zone. Attacked to the arm-side and under the hands against a RHH. Changeup flashed above-average with late sink to the arm-side; feel for the pitch being able to consistently go back-to-back and move the pitch location even when going to the same side of the plate. Slider was average as it worked lateral with late-action, short through the zone with times where it created depth below bat paths. (Ozella)
8-20-2018: Cape Cod All-Star who had excellent summer (1.44 ERA in 25 IP) in preparation for his senior season at St Mary’s. Madrigal is a five-foot-eleven, 190 pound lefty with an 86 mph fastball and 1900 spin rate. He retired both batters he faced on two pitches during his all-star game appearance. (Seifert)
