7-20-2018: San Francisco outfielder Tyler Villaroman made the best throw of the showcase, throwing a strike from middle distance in center field to the catcher on the fly to easily throw out a runner at the plate. He’s also a good runner who is tied for the Ripken League lead with 20 steals (in 26 tries). Villaroman scuffled at the plate in his first two season at USF, but he is hitting a solid .302 for Bethesda — and most encouragingly, he has 27 walks against just 14 strikeouts in 96 at-bats. Villaroman had two hits in the 10-2 win against the SCBL and also showed some strength to the opposite field against the Florida League, driving a deep line drive to the wall in right. But the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Villaroman is more of a contact-oriented speed guy — he has just nine extra-base hits (all doubles) in 244 career at-bats at USF. (Aaron Fitt)
