1/05/19

SoCal preseason All State (outfield) - The left-handed hitting outfielder started the day working line drives from gap to gap with some athleticism clearly shown throughout the swing. Setting up slightly open, O’Neil squares off with a fluid, down and back hands load into a power position before working uphill with angled shoulders. His barrel features some lag in the zone with a high, single-handed loose finish with more power potentially on the way as he continues to mature. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound outfielder bounced around during the defensive portion, and confidently charged balls before showing off his quick arm.

1/05/19

SoCal Preseason All-State (pitching) - 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, two-way player, strong proportional build, athletic, room for growth. High three-quarter arm slot, good balance, short and loose arm action, head and feet are inline with target. Sits on backside during initial leg lift leading to uphill battle and inconsistent command. Uses lower half well with some hip drive and glove side clearance. Arm action trailed the lower half leading to inconsistent feel of curveball and change-up. Starter potential that could see a boost in velocity and development of off-speed pitches from mechanical fixes and increased arm speed.

1/05/19

SoCal Preseason All-State Quick Hits - O'Neil shows all the characteristics of a legitimate two-way prospects with his defensive abilities in the outfield and his ability to locate his three-pitch mix for strikes. His arm is strong and accurate from the outfield and he gains lots of ground with his long strides. On the mound he shows a loose, easy arm with feel and command of three pitches. At 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, the 50th ranked player in the state 2021 class has plenty of room to add strength and mass to his long, lean frame.

8/01/18

SoCal Underclass Games - Five-foot-10, 155-pounds, medium frame that is long, lean, wiry strong throughout. Present strength in lower half. Large feet. O'Neil oozes athleticism; looks fluid and comfortable in everything he does in the outfield and at the plate. Defensively he gracefully moves around with excellent body control and footwork; attacks balls on a straight line. Average carry on throws that were accurate. Gets good jumps on balls hit in the air. Understands angles in the outfield. At the plate O'Neil shows a smooth, short stroke with present bat speed. Shows the ability to pick up spin and pitch recognition is above average. Went down to drive a fastball to center field on a loud fly out in-game. On the mound O'Neil shows easy arm action from a deliberate delivery. Arm speed is average presently. Curveball has early downer sinking action.
