2/12/19 - The 6-foot-1, 150-pound righty came out pumped about the big time matchup working 86-87 and touching 88 three times in the first inning. He settled into his customary 85-86 velocity but it’s the movement on his pitches that makes things difficult for hitters. Nothing is straight out of his hands particularly in the 85-86 range where there’s noticeable arm-side run on his fastball.

9/9/18 - The UC Riverside commit shows continued development on the mound that is impressive. His command of the slider was as good as I've seen it from the righty. It appears he's throwing two variations of it, one with late biting action as it crosses the plate and the other a more traditional sweeping slider. The one he threw at 79 was the former and it was nasty. Started at the knees of the hitter began sweeping away before just diving back into the corner of the plate. It was impressive. Jacobs command of the added velocity on his fastball is impressive too as he is now showing some run on the pitch that wasn't there this spring. Threw the pitch for strikes to all quadrants of the strike zone and showed the ability to elevate it to induce swing-and-miss.

4/28/18 - UC Riverside commit. 6-foot, 160-pound frame. Long, lean, wiry strength throughout the body that projects to add mass and strength with continued physical development. Using a high ¾ delivery, Jacob shows a tall backside before he dips and drives into his delivery. The ball explodes out of his hand through his fast/clean full arm actions. Jacob's fastball shows some run and life as it approaches the zone. It's a pitch he works to both sides of the plate showing exceptional command. The pitch worked 84-86 mph touching 87 mph several times early and twice in the 5th inning. Jacob generates downhill place on his fastball through his balanced, online delivery and landing. Jacob's curveball has sharp, downer action. Working at 71-73 mph, the curveball was commanded and spotted very well. Jacob's also featured a changeup that he has feel for and was an effective pitch at 74-75 mph. Lastly, Jacob showed a slider later in his start that he kept down and shows good sinking action at 76-79 mph.
