UCSB. 6-feet, 185lbs. solid, athletic frame, high waist, with toned slender legs. Has room to add muscle. Showed ability to square up the ball consistently in his BP rounds and spray the ball to all fields. Displays gap-to-gap power presently, which will turn into over the fence power as he ages and matures physically.  Pounded a triple in the live session seen below. Rodriguez can really range to his left and right with an above average arm tool that displays quick, smooth actions.

SoCal Preseason All-State. UCSB commit. 6-feet, 170 lbs. Plus frame, high waist, with toned, slender legs, and lean athleticism throughout. There is significant physical projection remaining. Showed a whippy bat with a long, high finish. Rodriguez squared the ball up consistently in his batting practice round. Gap-to-gap at current time but with added strength will have over the fence power potential. Demonstrated he has the ability to range to any ball, left or right, and displayed a plus arm tool often chest high on throws to first base. Not a true base threat, but will be adequate on the bases.

1/05/19

SoCal Preseason All-State Quick Hits - Rodriguez, a UCSB commit, showed very well at the event after posting a 7.09 60 to start the day. Shows some power at the plate where he gets and keeps his barrel through the hitting zone throughout his swing. Sprayed balls to all fields during his round of BP, usually on a line. Defensively his footwork was excellent and his backhand true. Shows above average arm strength - 84 mph across the diamond - with accuracy. Frame has room to add strength too.
