Deegan Holquin, Buchanan High School (CA), 2029
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Two-way with feel to pitch and a contact-driven offensive profile.
Body: 5-9, 165.1-pounds. Developing build with room for added strength.
Delivery: Works with a compact, athletic delivery. Moderate leg lift with controlled tempo. Stays stacked over the rubber and drives forward without excess effort. Clean directional move with balance through release.
Arm Action: RH. Short, quick arm stroke with a fast hand break. Releases from a consistent slot that allows him to repeat shapes. Minimal recoil.
FB: T80, 76-79 mph. Ball stays on plane and plays best to the glove-side edge. Shows strike-throwing confidence and comfort working ahead. T1866, 1755 average rpm.
CB: 61-65 mph. Distinct vertical breaker with depth. Tight spin creates late drop that separates well off the FB. T2450, 2190 average rpm.
ATH: 7.71 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.22 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Positional Profile: RHP/3B Two-way with feel to pitch and a contact-driven offensive profile.
Body: 5-9, 165.1-pounds. Developing build with room for added strength.
Hit: RHH. Calm posture and quiet pre-pitch rhythm. Uses a short, controlled gather into launch with limited head movement. Hands work efficiently to the ball, creating a flat-to-slightly uphill path geared for line drives. Stays through contact well and shows comfort using the middle of the field. Swing plays more for consistency than raw impact, with clean sequencing and barrel control. 62.5 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 77.7 mph. 258' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-76 mph. Compact arm stroke from a lower slot. Max effort release.
Defense: Shows comfort on routine plays and body control moving laterally; profiles as a dependable corner defender.
ATH: 7.71 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.22 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Deegan Holquin, Buchanan High (CA), 2029
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-8, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Starts with a higher hand set that drops quickly to belt level before syncing with the front leg. Utilizes a high leg kick with inward hip turn and sinks significantly into the back side before employing a drop/drive movement down the mound. Shows solid stride length and good feel for blocking with the plant leg.
Arm Action: RH. Features a lengthy arm path that begins downward before moving well behind the body. Shows smooth, fluid arm action with some present arm speed, working up to a 3/4 release and finishing with significant recoil upon release.
FB: FB with two-seam shape. Can miss barrels when located above the zone. Looks to steal strikes on the inner third vs. LHH.
CB: High spin CB with 1-7 action. Confident in locating in the zone.
SL: High spin SL with two-plane action. Out pitch potential vs. RHH.
CH: CH that kills spin effectively. Separates well off the FB when thrown down and away to LHH. Looks to induce weak contact.

Deegan Holquin, Buchanan High (CA), 2029
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-8, 165-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Begins from an upright, slightly open stance. Hands just above the back shoulder, with a raised back elbow, and the barrel resting flat on the shoulder. Initiates the load with a subtle shift of weight into the back side as the barrel works more vertically and the hands drift back slightly. Utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing before a controlled stride forward. Hip turn at begins at foot strike, with hands soon to follow. Hands work quickly through the zone, displaying good bat speed and feel for the barrel. Fairly level bat path, but showcases some ability to generate lift and carry when squared up.
Arm: RH. INF-73 mph. Full arm path out of the glove, working up to a 3/4 slot with the ability to change angles when needed. Produces good carry and consistent accuracy on throws across the INF. Arm strength profiles well for 3B.
Defense: Stays upright pre-pitch with active feet, working with short, controlled footwork while letting the ball travel. Displays solid lateral range and soft, quiet hands that work out in front. Profiles well at the corner INF spots.

Holquin was another kid who came from the deeper part of the Central Valley who is going to attend Buchanan High School next year, standing at 5’9” 165 lbs and has a very solid frame and is only going to get better, especially the program he will be playing in. Topping out at 81.1 MPH on the mound with his fastball sitting in the range of 77-80 MPH with a spin rate of 1905 and the curveball was about 30 MPH slower than his curveball at 57.6 - 65.3 MPH. In the hitting side Holquin has a very mature approach for his age, his max EV was 91.2 MPH on the day with an average of 80 MPH, his max distance hit was 312 FT. Holquin was able to find the sweet spot 50% of the time. In the infield he managed to throw it across the infield at 79 MPH making it one of the event best. He’s a very versatile athlete who’s going to develop into a legit two way player, since he’s still pretty young, the future is bright for this young man.
