Osterhout had a big week from the leadoff spot, going 7-for-12 with five runs, three RBIs, two doubles, two stolen bases, and a hit-by-pitch, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance in an extra-inning win over Granite Bay. On the season, he is hitting .417 with 15 hits, 13 runs, four RBIs, three doubles, one triple, six walks, three hit-by-pitches, and six stolen bases over 11 games.

The big lefty stood at 6’4 190 in the leadoff spot and wasted no time getting things going to start the offense. Osterhout went 2-3 with a hit to the left field gap, and then his next at bat, he hit a hard ground ball up the middle and showed off his speed to get a single. He looks like a gazelle in the OF, he managed to track down some balls that got hit well. Last year, he didn’t really play that much, considering he was a multi-sport athlete, but now that he’s chosen to stick with baseball, he’s more of a late bloomer, which nowadays can be a positive. His approach is what stood out, he never tried to launch to the pull side, Osterhout lives in the middle of the field, and will continue to get more base hits as time progresses. A lot to like about the uncommitted senior outfielder, especially a couple years from now with some added weight too.
