It was my first look at the Soph out of Benicia and he displayed an advanced approach at the plate with consistent contact skills. Todd played RF as he showed his athleticism by tracking fly balls and making routine plays. At the plate he went 2-3 with an RBI. He has a contact heavy offensive profile that stays consistent throughout the game along with a mature approach at the plate. He is a hitter that can extend through the zone and hit pitches below the zone, as he showed on a clutch RBI hit. There are not many moving parts to his swing showing he keeps it simple with his mechanics, allowing the baseball to travel deep in his at-bats. Todd looked extremely comfortable at the plate and wasn’t overmatched. He was able to take pitches just outside of the zone recognizing that these are pitches he couldn't drive. He takes advantage of mistake pitches near the zone as he shows he can stay level on high/low pitches. He is a player from the outside in that has the confidence to do his job consistently which is to consistently barrel the baseball while being a sure defender in the OF. On the season, the Soph is batting with a .421 AVG and .476 OBP through 10 GP. With more time to develop the next few years, Todd will continue to have an impressive offensive profile the more he grows into his frame.
