Jakob Kerr, Castaic High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF Defensively sound catcher with accurate throws and consistent contact at the plate.
Body: 5-9, 176-pounds. Lean, athletic build with more room to fill out.
Hit: RHH. Narrow stance with pre-coiled back hip. Bat begins on the shoulder and lifts off during the forward move. Simple, repeatable weight shift and leg kick. Forward bat tilt encourages barrel whip. Flat, level bat path with barrel depth and zone coverage. Consistent contact when hands get extended out in front. 66.3 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 82.0 mph. 342' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-78 mph. Short arm action with a quick transfer and a whippy finish. Arm extends all the way through the throw. Strong, accurate, consistent throws to 2B.
Defense: 2.05-2.11 pop times. Works from a one knee stance and explodes out of the squat towards 2B. Quick and fluid glove transitions.
ATH: 7.81 runner in the 60.

Kerr attended the 2025 Central California Preseason All State which featured a loaded catching crop and made a solid impression for himself. Over the past year the RH hitting backstop has gone to work on his game and body to return for this PSID event with an impressive showing of development. Kerr is a solidly built at 5'9 175.7 with athleticism in how he moves behind the plate and in the batters box. Where Kerr made the biggest gains in the last year was with his consistency of all his tools showing newly improved arm strength with accuracy behind the dish posting PRs in velocity at 78 MPH while reaching a PR pop times of 2.05-2.1 on the day. The bat speed for Kerr has improved with his stronger frame now at 68 MPH with 11+ Gs of rotational acceleration. His swing improvements lead to a new PR of 63% hard hit rate (balls hit over 90 MPH) and max distance at 342' on a rocket to the pull side. The profile for Kerr is headed in the right direction as an uncommitted SR. out of the Santa Clarita region of Southern California.

Jakob Kerr, Castaic High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF Shows solid toolset foundation with some athleticism that projects potential for further development/improvement
Body: 5-10, 161-pounds. Wiry lean frame at present
Hit: RHH. Very narrow set up with taller posture and slightly curled front side. Hands are set about ear height with barrel angled behind his head to LF foul pole. High back elbow and bat waggle. Sits into rear hip to start his load with a medium leg kick to get to launch. Uses his hips well in the turn and stays in the middle of his body. Hands push back and lower to help him get up through the baseball from a direct hand path with slightly uphill barrel. Solid present bat speed with room to add. 65 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 83.9 mph. 294' max distance. Interesting profile here with feel to get the ball in the air consistently and can reach solid top end EV, but inconsistent with hard contact. When swing path/approach sync up with contact quality has pull side impact with middle of the field carry at present.
Arm: RH. C-74 mph. Lower transfer below the chest that needs to be cleaned up. Created length in the arm path which affected carry/accuracy.
Defense: 2.15-2.25 pop times. The foundation is there for Kerr, but needs to polish profile to reach his potential.
ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. Stays low in the drive portion of run. Some effort to process, but can maintain stride length/speed.
